KM Organisations in Aotearoa (New Zealand)

Friday, October 29th, 2004

I have been a member of NZKM for over a year now. I attended a worthwhile event they held where Larry Prusak presented.

Thursday, October 28th, 2004

This Daily Internet Activities analysis from the Pew Internet & American Life Project finds that of the American adults with Internet access, 45% send an e-mail on a typical day.

(thanks for pointing this out, Steven)

Virtual Organisation Development Conference

Thursday, October 28th, 2004

The invitation to this Virtual Organizational Development 2004 online conference says:

“As more and more organizations embrace distributed work, virtual teams, network organizational structures, and other practices driven by globalization and technology, Organizational Development (OD) practitioners must respond with new approaches and innovative processes that address the opportunities and challenges of the 21 st century. A new breed of OD practitioner is emerging, one that understands how new processes and technologies being used by companies today can enable breakthrough interventions at the individual, team, organization, and trans-organizational levels.”

What is the distinction between OD (now) and KM?

Online Consultation

Thursday, October 28th, 2004

Liz Rykert of Meta Strategies has pointed to these “Tools and Experiences” on online consultation collected by the Public Works and Government Services Canada Innovatec program.

Meta Strategies are strategists and consultants in the technical and social aspects of online media with a focus on community development.

With Maureen James, Liz wrote “FROM WORKPLACE TO WORKSPACE – Using Email Lists to Work Together”. I read this in 1998. It’s a useful resource and has a free online version.

The Technology section now mentions: “A new, soon to be released open source tool, GroupServer combines the best aspects of e-mail lists and web forums. “

It’s true!

These guidelines by Headstar for text email newsletters look very useful.
